Advanced fluid dynamics

Course

Description

This course addresses three important concepts in fluid dynamics: vorticity theory and its applications, potential theory for irrotational flows, and low-Reynolds number flows relevant to small-scale systems where surface- and interface effects dominate. Students gain insight into fundamental properties of flows with and without vorticity and into the forces and physical mechanisms that can induce transport at micro- and nanoscales.
