Personal profile

Research profile

Luc van Summeren has a Master degree in Innovation Sciences and graduated in 2014 at Eindhoven University of Technology. For his Master Thesis, which was nominated for the VVM Rachel Carson Environmental Thesis Award 2014, he investigated mismatches in deep retrofitting projects in social housing. After graduating Luc worked at DuneWorks, a small research and advisory company focussing on social issues concerning sustainability and sustainable innovations. Currently, Luc pursues a Ph.D. at the School of Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences in the Technology, Innovation & Society group. His research concerns the community-based Virtual Power Plant (cVPP), an organisational innovation that offers communities the opportunity to provide their energy needs with small-scale, distributed low-carbon technologies. This way it can help organise and significantly boost renewable energy production and distribution at a local level. This research is part of an Interreg NWEurope funded project on cVPP (number NWE 588).
