Research profile
Marco S. Nobile is Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology, in the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS), subgroup Information Systems. His main research activity focuses on the use of Computational Intelligence (e.g., evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, fuzzy inference, machine learning) to solve complex problems in biomedical disciplines. In particular, he works on the development of data-driven "intelligent" decision support systems, able to provide interpretable descriptions for the rationale of decisions.
Academic background
Marco received the BSc, MSc and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2015 from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. He is part of the ISBE.IT/SYSBIO research center for systems biology in Milano, Italy. He is also member of the B4 - Bicocca Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and Bioimaging interdepartmental center in Milano, Italy. Marco has been visiting researcher at the North Carolina State University in 2014; he visited the IBA Research Laboratory of Genetic and Evolutionary Computation of the University of Tokyo (Japan) in 2014 and 2016; he visited Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN, USA) in 2016; he has been visiting researcher in the Kanzaki-Takahashi Laboratory at RCAST (Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, Tokyo, Japan) in 2017 and 2018. Since 2019, Marco works at TU/e as Assistant Professor in Computational Intelligence, focusing on interpretable AI for decision support in the clinical environment.
