Personal profile

Academic background

I am Steven Kaptein a Dutch engineer graduated from the Bordeaux Institute of Technology (IPB), France, in mechanical modelling, specialised in fluid dynamics. During my education I developped strong mathematical (numerical) and mechanical skills. With my background I am able to combine these skills with my language proficiency and an understanding of different cultures wich might be very useful for projects with an interational component.

Currently I am involved in a 4-year PhD study about the Rhine ROFI (Region of Freshwater Influence) that started in May 2014. I am expecting to enhance my knowledge about coastal processes, turbulence, stratification and turbulence models such as Direct Numerical Simulations and Large Eddy Simulations.
