Research profile

Thomas Hafkamp is currently a PhD Candidate in the Control Systems Technology (CST) group at the Eindhoven University of Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research is conducted within the AMSYSTEMS Center, an Innovation Centre by TNO and TU/e HTSC. His research interest lies in developing equipment and control architectures for industrial AM processes. These processes need to advance to higher production rates, improved product quality and increased product sizes to meet the high-tech industry’s needs. Control systems may prove a key enabler in advancing AM technologies. To demonstrate this hypothesis, Thomas investigates the feasibility of integrating control systems into vat photopolymerization machines.

Academic background

Thomas Hafkamp received his BSc (2013) and MSc (2015, cum laude) in Mechanical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree at TU/e.
